The Required Courses option within the myBlueprint Course Selection Settings was designed for schools that have a required course which all students must take based on their grade level, without exceptions. As an example, this is commonly used by Catholic schools which have a mandatory religion class that all students must take to maintain enrollment. Students will be blocked from submitting their course selections unless they have at least one of the required courses for the grade they're entering within their high school plan.
To configure Required Courses, you must have a Counsellor Lead account:
- Log in to your account
- Click Configure Course Selection on the Dashboard page
- Navigate to Required Courses
- Enter the required course(s) for each applicable grade by selecting from the drop-down menu
- Click Save Changes
Note that when populating multiple required courses, this field functions as an 'OR' statement. In other words, students will be able to submit course selections as long as they have at least one of the required courses, but are not required to submit all of the courses.
This field is not intended to be used for compulsory course types (e.g. English, Math, etc.) where students need to take a course in a given subject area, but may submit from among a few options (College, University, etc.), or may occasionally take them in summer/night school. For those categories of courses, you'll want to populate them in the appropriate discipline, and have the pre-populated slots within your students' High School Plans customized to the needs of your school. For assistance with that process, or any other questions, don't hesitate to contact myBlueprint support.
